DATE A LIVE

Thirty years before a strange phenomena called a “spacequake” devastated the center of Eurasia, claiming the lives of at least 150 million people. Since then, smaller spacequakes plague the world on a irregular basis. Shidō Itsuka, a seemingly ordinary high schooler comes across a mysterious girl at the ground zero of a spacequake and learns from his sister Kotori she is one of the “Spirits” who are the real cause of the spacequakes that occur when they manifest themselves in the world. He also learns that Kotori is the captain of the airship Ratatoskr and recruits him to make use of his mysterious ability to seal the Spirits’ powers and stop them from being a threat to mankind. However, there is a catch: to seal a Spirit, he must make her fall in love with him. (Source: ANN)

Tiger and Bunny

 

The title seems funny at first but here is the storyline before jumping to conclusions. Set in a futuristic city, heroes fight crime whilst promoting real life sponsors. The series focuses on two superheroes; the old fashioned “Wild Tiger” and the rookie hero Barnaby Brooks Jr (aka Bunny) as they are forced by their employers to work together.

Hataraku Maou-sama!

Hataraku Maou-sama! is also know as “The Devil is a Part Timer!” and is often referred as “Maousama.”

Bakemonogatari

 

Bakemonogatari (化物語, “ghostory”/ A Monster Story) revolves around Koyomi Araragi, an aloof boy who holds a strange, supernatural secret that inadvertently leads him to others with similar stories. Gods, spirits and afflictions can be pesky things, taking important memories or causing unusual tendencies – a fact that Koyomi and others are unfortunately aware of. Using the help of an eccentric homeless man, Koyomi is able to help new friends he meets along the way with their own paranormal conundrum.

Full Metal Panic

Sousuke Sagara is a member of a covert anti-terrorist private military organization known as Mithril, tasked with protecting Kaname Chidori, a spirited Japanese high school girl. He moves to Japan to study at Chidori’s school and never experiencing social interactions, Sousuke is found as a military maniac by classmates because he interprets everyday situations from a combat perspective. His relationship with Chidori is tested when he is unaware why Chidori is being targeted by different organizations.

Elfen Lied

It is sometimes difficult to comprehend how much violence there is in the world. This anime series is more than what it seems… The story revolves around Lucy, a Diolonius (a genetically mutated homosapien possessed with two horns and invisible vectors that can cut through bone) who escapes from government confinement but suffers a severe head injury along the way. She is discovered by two teenagers who take care of her. However government reinforcements are tracking her down to retrieve her and the murderous dark side of Lucy is not completely gone.

Rozen Maiden

Using someone’s comment from Youtube, Rozen Maiden can be described as ‘Toy Story going epic and bad-ass!’ This cannot be further from the truth when it comes to the concept of Rozen Maiden. Dolls can be beautiful, but they can also be scary. This anime series is not clearly scary but it is creepy (when it comes to that crazy clown). Its even more creepy when you realise your toys come to life. That would be the case for Sakurada Jun  when he opens a package in his room containing a doll, by the name of Shinku, who views Jun as an equivalent for a servant. Throughout the series, Jun goes on a personal journey, with the assistance of Shinku and other ‘lively’ dolls, help overcome his fears of human contact as well as protect him from deadly battles soon to come his way.

Steins;Gate

Steins;Gate takes place in modern Japan and follows a self-proclaimed Mad Scientist, Rintarō Okabe as he accidentally discovers a means of sending text messages into the past and winds up inadvertently changing the course of the future.

Shinreigari: Ghost Hound

In an isolated region of Kyushu lies the town of Suiten. Though seeming small and modest, Suiten is not a picturesque place for a vacation, unless it is from the “Unseen World”. Taro, Makoto and Masayuki, three boys with traumatic pasts, learn to let their souls cross between the two parallel worlds. However, the Unseen World is no mere copy of the real Apparent World. The Unseen World is the home of ghosts, but changes are now allowing the souls of the dead to pass over into the Apparent World, with unpredictable effects. Follow the journey of Taro, Makoto and Masayuki, as they cross between the two worlds, trying to unravel a great mystery.
